Digital Printing Council shines for PIA/GATF

By Randy Davidson on October 23rd, 2006

Associations have been challenged to meet the changing marketplace and loss of members from consolidation. PIA/GATF has lost some good people recently for various reasons - Ray Prince joined NAPL, George Ryan is now president of Printing Association of Florida and Joanne Vinyard who once headed the very successful Digital Printing Council, has left PIA. (Vinyard is now helping Ben Cooper and the Print Council.) But the Digital Printing Council rolls on. The group has shined for PIA in recent years with strong member support, vendor backing and support from industry guru Frank Romano.

The newly appointed Director is Julie Shaffer. She is well known in the industry and will do a great job. DPC membership has tripled from what it was less than a year ago. No longer a “special interest group” it is now a core offering of PIA/GATF.

The organization is moving DPC operations from Alexandria, Virginia to its headquarters in Sewickley, PA; and is in the midst of establishing a best practices digital business and technology center. (See the press release from WTT.)
