Dr. Joe made an interesting post in his “FREE Marketing, Management and Economic Notes” this week. He referenced an Ad Age article I was finally able to read last night. Scary stuff!

My column on Monday 3/19 discusses the issue in greater detail. It explains how the ability to opt-out of mailings already exists and works extremely well. It also discusses how poorly the CAN-SPAM legislation fared in combating spam, and how Do-Not-Call didn’t do so well, either. There was an interesting story in the Wall Street Journal recently about how school districts are now using automated calling. Of course, they are exempt from the law, just like nonprofits and political organizations.
