2007 InterTech Technology Award Recipients Announced

PIA/GATF has announced the recipients of the 2007 PIA/GATF InterTech Technology Awards. This year 11 innovative technologies for the graphic communications industry where selected among 31 nominations.

The recipients are:

:Energy Elite Dual Layer “No Bake” Plate from Agfa Graphics.

Enviro Image Solutions‘ EIS UV Printing Blanket Refurbishment. A blanket recycling program that ESI claims extends the lifespan of UV printing blankets by up to 400 percent.

Esko DeskPack 3-dX from Esko Graphics. A set of plug-ins for Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop that provide 3D visualization for packaging design.

Fujifilm C-Fit Image Intelligence software from Fujifilm Graphic Systems. Color workflow software that automates image enhancement and color conversion.

Harlequin RIP Font Font Emulation from Global Graphics Software, Inc. In RIP replacement of missing fonts. (PDF on how it works)

Anicolor Inking System (Currently available on the Speedmaster SM 52) from Heidelberg. A new inking unit in which ink is stored in an anilox roller-lie ink chamber.

Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 from Heidelberg. The XL 105 can handle a sheet size up to 29.53 x 41.34 in.

KBA Sensoric Infeed System from KBA North America. A feeding system available on the KBA Rapida 105 that provides enhanced stabilization and alignment of large sheets.

Kodak Traceless System from Kodak Graphic Communications. An anti-counterfeiting and authentication technology that is, according to Kodak, forensically invisible.

Océ VarioPrint 6250 from Océ North America. A cut sheet electrophotographic digital printer that uses Océ Gemini Technology to images both sides of the sheet in one pass.

Roland 700 DirectDrive from MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AG. Computer-controlled servo-motors that can drive the plate cylinder independent of the main press drive.
