Improving Paper Attribute and Property Communication Between Media Specifiers and Print Providers
By Adam Dewitz on August 15th, 2007
The IDEAlliance Paper Print Predictability Task Force has annouced the avaiblity of a methodology for describing paper attributes and properties that affect printed color reproduction:
Digitizing the front end of printing technologies has created the need for
additional information about the materials used throughout the process.
Paper plays a vital role in image reproduction at both the proofing and
printing stages as well as at the design stage. IDEAlliance formed a
multi-discipline group called the Print Predictability Paper Task Force to
represent the paper supply chain, study the problem and recommend a
solution. The Task Force, supported by the working committees of
IDEAlliance, now is recommending a solution to the paper characterization
puzzle. The work of the Paper Print Predictability Task Force has been
posted on the IDEAlliance Website for industry comment.
Downlaod the Paper: Print Predictability and send in your technical comments to Dianne Kennedy at IDEAlliance.
Do you see this matrix helping advertisers, print buyer, and print service providers better predict the print reproduction possibilities of a given paper?
