French Magazine Distributor Launches All-You-Can-Read Magazine Download Subscriptions
By Adam Dewitz on April 21st, 2008
French magazine distributor Relay is offering “All-You-Can-Read” magazine downloads according to PC World magazine:
For a monthly fee of 17.90 (US$28.20) readers can download the latest issues of around 400 French magazines, including top sellers such as Glamour, Public and Playboy, and technology titles such as Digital World. There are also more obscure titles, including magazines for stamp collectors, bonsai growers and clockmakers.
The new service expands Relay’s single issue downloads. Magazine distributors seem to be catching onto online distribution model. Now we just need to get the hardware manufacturers to release a device that makes it easy to consume digital formats.

This is another datapoint for an emerging business model: read for free or a subscription on the web, pay for print edition.
If this gets mass traction, it could be the next opportunity for digital print and book production.
